EBA Volunteering at the Mustard Seed

As lawyers, we know it is important to give back to our community. Although busy legal practices do not always leave a great deal of time for hands-on volunteer work, the Edmonton Bar Association’s Board of Directors recognizes the importance of getting involved whenever possible. Our Board recently had the pleasure of volunteering at The Mustard Seed, located in Edmonton’s inner city. Our evening of volunteering involved covering the cost of, preparing, and serving an impressive meal to approximately 225 of Edmonton’s vulnerable individuals.

This was a remarkable experience for each Board Member in attendance. From the team work involved in preparing the food, to the interactions with members of the Mustard Seed’s community, to the pleasure of serving a nutritious and satisfying meal to those who need it most, our Board was grateful to have had the experience.

The Board was fortunate to have the guidance of The Mustard Seed staff and volunteers in preparing and serving this substantial meal. It is a significant undertaking to feed so many people in such a short period of time, and the hard-working and passionate Mustard Seed family do it night after night with warmth and a sense of humour.

Special thanks to EBA Board Member Farrel Shadlyn for coordinating this opportunity for us.
